C. M. D. Engineering Co (Piston Rings) – Leamington

In 1919 Albert Walter Blunt from Coventry set up a business in Tavistock Street Leamington Spa producing making machined cast-iron pistons for aircraft, marine and industrial engines, makers of COVMO replacement pistons.

By 1922 the business expanded and they moved to larger premises in Wharf Street, Warwick.

In 1935 C.M.D Engineering has now been taken over by The British Piston Ring Co. Ltd, Holbrooks Lane Coventry and Albert W. Blunt join the Board of The British Piston Ring Co. Ltd.

The British Piston Ring Co also had premises in the 1950s and 1960s in Montague Road, Warwick, the premises were then acquired by Kigass Aero Components where the son of the brother of A.W. Blunt continued to work there until 1980.

They acquire other piston ring manufacturers, Hepworth and Wellworthy.

Who in turn are taken over by the Associated Engineering Group whose Headquarters moved from London and are now along the Kenilworth Road in Leamington Spa.

1949 Albert W. Blunt retired from the Board of the Company and is awarded a long service award for 30 years of service.

He died in 1963 in Leamington Spa.
