Dunns Tyres, 1-4 New Street, Leamington
The main depot was initially in Raglan Street Coventry but looks to have moved to the Leicester Causeway in Bishopsgate, Coventry, with another branch in Coten Road, Nuneaton.
Dunns Tyres, Leamington started in 1 New Street, but have according to their adverts they have also been in number 2,3 and 4 New Street, Leamington.
In 1968 a Mr Burridge was Manager.
In May 1970 they advertised for a Motor Mechanic and were in number 3-4 New Street.
By June 1970 they had another advert for a Motor Mechanic but are now only in number 2.
In June 1972 there is now an advert for Kettering Tyres at the other two branches and still Dunns tyres at 2 New Street.
1974 it has also become Kettering tyres and a few more branches have been acquired.
In December 1976 there is a job advert for trainee tyre and exhaust fitter with interviews with a very apt Mr Fitter.
Another advert in June 1976 for an Accessories Shop Assistant with interviews with Mr Fitter.
1 August 1978 Kettering Tyres and Exhaust have now acquired premises in Cherry Street, Warwick.
1978/79 “winter of discontent and the petrol tanker drivers strike, Kettering Tyres Leamington Manager, Mr Malcolm Shilvers states in January 1979 that petrol locking caps are now like gold dust and could have charged double, the demand for plastic petrol pipe for syphoning petrol has gone up.
No more adverts have been found for Kettering Tyres and Exhaust for Leamington or Warwick in 1980, the only advert found is for a single company now in Grantham.
2021 number one and two is now just one building.
Number 3 is now called Satchwell Granary and shows a Blue Plaque stating that Benjamin Satchwell once had a cottage where this house now stands.
Number 4 has gone and is now a car park.
