George Kidd Motors – Leamington Spa

Surprisingly, I am having a struggle to find out very much information about George Kidd Motors.

It looks like George Kidd Motors originally started at The Lansdowne Garage on the Willes Road, Leamington Spa.

Earliest adverts I can find show them there on 4 April 1947 selling second-hand cars and then moving to Trinity/ Beauchamp Road Street by 19 August 1949.

An advert shows Lansdowne Garage still continues but now seems to run as a car valet service for cars on 22 January 1954.

By January 1954 George Kidd Motor are now the Main Distributor for Singer and Renault cars.

In 1951 and 1954 there was an advert for Trinity Motors also selling second-hand cars which may well have been on the opposite side of the road to George Kidd Motors as the only other place that may have been big enough was the old McGee Scrap Metals buildings which are now 150-164 Trinity St.

In February 1957 they are now Main Distributors for Jaguar, Singer and Renault.

At some point, the George Kidd Motors had been purchased for Brian Morris perhaps as a 21st Birthday present maybe on 27.06.1961 by his father.

George Kidd Motors are now Jaguar, Daimler, Rover and Land Rover Main Distributors.

By 1970ish he incorporated a construction Plant repair side to the business, with one main employee “Aberlow Construction”?

On 30 Oct 1991, John Anthony Liggins, Frank John Cridlan and Mrs Mary Elizabeth Cridlan on 17 Nov 1993 are appointed directors of George Kidd Motors Ltd.
