Guernsey Garage – Leamington

The Guernsey Garage was on the corner of Church Street and Chapel Street, now occupied by Chapel Cross apartments.
Was built on the site of the Guernsey Temperance Hotel and Boarding House at 29 Church Street.

Walter Riggs was the owner in September 1961, and Don Chambers was the proprietor in the 1960s, also.
In the late 1960s, they were Chevron Fuel distributors.

They had a big red tow truck, ex-army, armoured, Rolls-Royce engine, no power steering or power brakes, it was a beast.

They used to supply Pink Paraffin from a dispenser that I used a few times myself for my garage heater.

CMS Repairs had the workshop, which, if I remember rightly, had a slight downward ramp and was run by Tony Gearan and Bink Morrow in the 1970s.

Both were keen members of the Leamington British Sub-Aqua Club.
