Karobes – Leamington

Karobes on the Queensway in Leamington Spa.

I remember buying a high quality padded Vinyl Roof for my Hillman Hunter GLS from them around 1976. I seem to remember them producing Steering Wheel Gloves and Car Seat Covers, some of them in the style of Rod Stuart’s britches.

They also produced the Weather Guard perspex screen that fitted on the driver door so the window could be opened without rain coming inside the car.

They produced a headrest that slipped over the backrest of the seat, I’m pretty sure I bought a couple of them as well and some point.

A 1970s catalogue shows motorist clothing being modelled by none other than Graham Hill and Jackie Stuart and some other talent.

Karobes was acquired by Harmo Industries in May 1968.
In 1988 Harmo was taken over by Beaverco.
And in 1990 they were taken over by Betterware.
