Saltisford Motor and Cycle Company – Warwick

I can’t find very much about this company, apart from them being on Birmingham Road.

The site was possibly next to 35 Birmingham Road and the Kings Head Pub where the new houses stand.

Looks like the company may have been established around the 1920s, as the earliest advert I can find is in May 1924.

The owner then was a C C. Bemrose.

In their 1924 advert they have just installed a petrol pump for the convenience of their customers and now have a fully equipped workshop.

They were then agents for the Rhode Motor Car, which was produced from 1921 to 1930 by a British company in Birmingham called Mead and Deakin Ltd.
Hire cars were also available as high-class Landaulettes (Limousine).

In 1927 they are advertising the Raleigh Cycle and Motorcycle.

In the photo, notice it has a BP sign with a yellow edge, this logo ran from 1947 to 1958.

(BP was originally a German Company, the British government seized the company’s assets, and the Public Trustee sold them to Anglo-Persian in 1917.)
